For six action-packed days, Sotavento Beach in Fuerteventura was the epicenter of the world's premier wingfoil competition. For the 35th consecutive year, René Egli organized the prestigious World Wingfoil Championship in collaboration with the Pájara Town Council and the Fuerteventura Island Council. This year, for the first time, the Global Wingfoil Association (GWA) crowned wingfoil champions in the Freestyle and FreeFly-Slalom disciplines, raising the bar for excitement and competition.
Freestyle: Exciting battles and outstanding performances 🌊🤩
The competition days began with the Surf-Freestyle event, where the athletes showcased their skill and dexterity on the waves of Fuerteventura. The battles were exciting, with spectacular maneuvers that captivated the audience.
In the women's category, Nia Suardiaz of Spain took the title, demonstrating her talent and determination in every performance. The podium was completed by Bowien Van der Linden of the Netherlands and Orane Ceris of France. Meanwhile, in the men's category, Chris McDougall of the United States took first place, followed by Jerome Cloetens of Belgium and Spain in second place, and Malo Guenole of France in third place.

Titouan Galea of ​​France took the men's title, closely followed by Francesco Cappuzzo of Italy and Bastien Escofet of France in second and third place, respectively. In the women's category, Nia Suardiaz shined again, taking first place, while Flora Artzner of France and Orane Ceris, also of France, completed the podium in second and third place, respectively.
