Hello kiters, I'm bringing you another great event that has just taken place and, as always, I've been gathering information for your blog. I'm sure you didn't miss the Windspot Cartagena Open 2024, but in case you didn't know, it's the most important event of this sport in Colombia. For four days, the best riders in the country and the world met in the El Laguito sector of the beautiful city of Cartagena to demonstrate their skills and compete for the podium in the Kite Foil, Twintip Kite, and Wing Foil modalities. 🏆
The Windspot Cartagena Open 2024 was organized by the Bolívar Sailing League and the Military Sailing League, with the endorsement of the Colombian Sailing Federation. It also had the support of sponsors such as Windspot, Mow Player, Dyson, Leche Río, and El Universal, who made this spectacular event possible. 👏
In the men's Kite Foil competition, a modality that consists of using a board with a spoiler that lifts the rider above the water, allowing them to reach high speeds and also perform impressive jumps, the winners were: Víctor Bolaños, from Santander, who was crowned champion with 7 points, something that was clear to us since he is one of those already qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, followed by Luis Ángel Alcázar, from Bolívar, with 15 points, and Carlos López, from Antioquia, with 20 points.

In the women's category, Marie Prevot from Santander scored 5 points, followed by Wendy Vanesa de la Asunción Hernández from Atlántico with 10 points, and Laura Giraldo, an independent, with 23 points. 🥇🥈🥉

And this is how the @liga_de_vela_del_atlantico reported it on their social media:
Thanks to our Atlantic Sailing League competitors for their excellent performance at the @windspot competition held in Cartagena. We'd like to highlight the participation of @frank_charriskite for first place in the twintip race and @andres_pereirakiteboarding for second place.
@wendelasuncionkite for her second place in women's kitefoil and third place in women's twintip race.

In the Twintip Kite competitions, a modality that uses a symmetrical or bidirectional board that allows the rider to change direction without turning the board, facilitating maneuvers and tricks, the champions were: Frank Charris, from Atlántico, with 6 points, followed by Andrés Pereira, from Atlántico, with 15 points, and Tomás Gómez, independent, with 19 points, in the men's category; and Laura Giraldo, independent, with 8 points, and followed by Marie Prevot, from Santander, with 11 points, and Wendy Vanesa de la Asunción, from Atlántico, with 16 points, in the women's category. 🏅🏅🏅

And we continue with what is already the most anticipated and spectacular test of all the kiteboarding events held in 2024, the WINGFOIL.

Wing Foil competitions, a sport that combines kite foiling with a hand-held sail, allowing the rider to control the wind and waves, were divided into two subcategories: Wing Foil Race and Wing Foil Waves. The former consisted of a speed race and combined strength and skill among participants, while the latter was based on evaluating the riders' technique and style on the waves—what we call freestyle.

The second day of the 2024 National Surfing Championship was dominated by the wing foil class. 12 riders, including both race and freestyle, competed in the waters of the Bolívar capital. 🏆🏆🏆
The winner Jean Paul expressed his happiness on Instagram with these words: Happy with the results of this competition, getting a second place in the twintip race and a first place in the wingfoil race representing @liga_de_vela_del_atlantico
