Lorenzo Boscheti triumphs at the Go Sailing Shop FKSS 2023 Palamós

From April 14 to 16, the second stop on the national Formula Kite circuit, the Go Sailing Shop FKSS 2023 Palamós, was held at Platja Gran de Palamós. More than thirty sailors of different nationalities gathered in this event, which was also the Spanish Formula Kite and A's Youth Championship.

The Italian Lorenzo Boscheti was the clear dominator of the competition, winning six of the eight tests held and demonstrating his great technical and tactical level. The Spanish Bernat Cortés, who had just done a good job in the Rooster Sailing FKSS 2023 Mallorca, won second place and the national Formula Kite title. The podium was completed by the Vanuatu athlete Mikhail Novikov, who showed great consistency and speed. In the A's Youth category, the Spanish champion was Carlos Espí, who could not sail on the second day due to lack of wind.

The wind was the great protagonist of the regattas, with highly variable and intense conditions that put the skills and resistance of the participants to the test. On the first day, the wind changed direction and intensity several times, forcing the athletes to change the paraglider up to three times to adapt to the different situations. On the second day, the wind was very light and only two tests could be completed for the Kitefoils. On the third and final day, the wind blew very strongly, exceeding 33 knots, which made it impossible to get out on the water and forced the race committee to cancel the day.

The athletes expressed their satisfaction for having been able to compete in Palamós, a venue with excellent conditions for practicing kite. They also thanked the organization of the event by the Club Nàutic Costa Brava-Vela Palamós and the FKSS circuit, which guaranteed safety and compliance with sanitary measures. The next appointment of the circuit will be in Castellón from May 12 to 14.

The next appointment of the FKSS circuit will be in Castellón (Valencian Community), from July 7 to 9. It is expected to be a highly contested and exciting test, then Tarifa comes in September (dates not announced) and the last appointment of the FKSS circuit will be TBA (To Be Announced), that is, the venue and date have not yet been confirmed. . According to the circuit's official website, the final will be held at the end of the year and is expected to be a spectacular event that brings together the best kitefoil sailors in the world.

The leader of the general classification is the Italian Lorenzo Boscheti, who has won the first two stops in Mallorca and Palamós. They are followed by the Spanish Bernat Cortés, who is also the Spanish Formula Kite champion, and the Vanuatuan Mikhail Novikov. The three have been very solid and fast in previous regattas, but they will have to face other high-level rivals, such as Alejandro Climent, Jacobo Espí and Carlos Espí, who have also been on the podium on occasion. Castellón is a venue with ideal conditions for kitefoiling, with thermal winds and a spectacular natural environment.
