Spanish Cup of WingFoil Surf Freestyle and Surf Slalom 2023
Chiclana de la Frontera will host two national water sports events in April. The mayor of the city, José María Román and the Spain Wingfoil League have presented the Spanish Cup of WingFoil Surf Freestyle and Surf Slalom, which will be held from April 1 to 3, and Funboard Fin Foil, which will take place from April 29 April to May 1. Both competitions will bring together the best athletes of both categories in Spain and will be held in Chiclana.
During the presentation of the events, the mayor of Chiclana highlighted the importance of these competitions for the city and highlighted the City Council's conviction that the beach is more than just a summer tourist destination. In addition, it has announced the municipality's strategy to work so that beach services are available throughout the year, and not only in summer.
The organization of these tests has had the collaboration of the Andalusian Sailing Federation, the Sancti Petri Yacht Club and the Spain WingFoil League, and has received the sponsorship of the Chiclana City Council, Atenas Playa and Sabfoil. During the ceremony, the councilor from Chiclano thanked all those involved in organizing these competitions for their collaboration, and highlighted the importance of sporting events of this level for the city.
Both events are part of the Chiclana Wind & Waves project where the City Council and local businessmen are committed to water sports as a dynamic tool for tourism, with the organization of five events spread throughout the calendar; Spanish SUP Race Cup (October 7), Spanish Junior Surf Championship (November) and the Miki Salmerón Surf Memorial (November).
The Chiclana City Council and local businessmen have promoted the Chiclana Wind & Waves project to turn the city into a benchmark in the organization of nautical sporting events and boost tourism. The Spain Wingfoil League will organize two events at Playa de la Barrosa - Atenas Playa: the Spanish Cup and Andalusian Wingfoil Championship from April 1 to 3 and the Spanish Cup and Andalusian Funboard Championship from April 29 to 1 of May. These events are added to three others already planned: the Spanish SUP Race Cup in October, the Spanish Junior Surf Championship and the Miki Salmerón Surf Memorial, both in November.
