Cesantes Beaches GALICIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2023
This weekend ๐ May 27 and 28. ๐ Cesantes Beaches (Redondela). Organize @tmkiteclub ๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ข๐ก๐๐ง๐ข ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฏ in regatta format and in Foil, Twintip and Surf modalities. Open to all riders with a current federation license.
The awards ceremony, which was attended by Tato Gonzรกlez, president of the organizing club, and Manuel Villaverde, president of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation, was in charge of putting the finishing touch. Perfect weekend in Cesantes. After two intense days of regatta, the TMKiteClub put an end to the Galician Kitesurf Championship this Sunday, a test organized by the club from Redondela with the collaboration of the Redondela City Council and by delegation of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation. In total, six tests completed which gave the winners to Justo Fernรกndez in the Foil and Surf divisions, Antonio Fernรกndez โPatxiโ in the Male Twintip and Marรญa de Carmen Nieto in the Female Twintip.
Cesantes fulfilled again with the more than 30 registered riders. Although the report pointed out that the passage of the DANA could complicate things both on Saturday and Sunday, finally the thermal wind characteristic of the San Simรณn cove came on time to its appointment, allowing the Race Committee to complete three races per day for each of the categories with winds that were from 12 to 18 knots of intensity.
In the Foil class, Justo Fernรกndez from the Windsurf Galicia club had no rival and once again claimed the title of Galician Champion with full victories in his box. Behind, the second position went to Mario Martรญnez from TMKiteClub and third was Andrรฉs Douglas from the Windsurf Galicia club.
For his part, in the Surf class Justo Fernรกndez repeated at the top of the podium, followed on this occasion by Francisco Costas from TMKiteClub and Roberto Gonzรกlez from Papaventos Kite Club, second and third respectively.
In the Twintip men's division, with five victories out of six possible, local rider Antonio Fernรกndez โPatxiโ was crowned the new Galician Champion of the class. Behind him, he was followed in second place by the defending champion from last year, Ivรกn Carballo from TMKiteClub from Baion, and third was Horacio Pequeรฑo, also representing the club from Redondo.
The Female Twintip class was, without a doubt, the most disputed with an intense one-on-one between Marรญa Lรณpez Muiรฑa and Marรญa del Carmen Nieto -both from the TMKiteClub-, which was finally resolved in favor of Nieto becoming the new Galician Champion of the class ahead of Lรณpez Muiรฑa. The youngest of the fleet, Vera Vรกzquez, closed the podium in the third drawer.
Once the second day was over, the awards ceremony put the finishing touch to a weekend of ten in the waters of the Vigo estuary. The event was attended by the president of the organizing club, Tato Gonzรกlez, and the president of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation, Manuel Villaverde, who was in charge of presenting the awards to the regional champions of the class.
In the words of the Twintip winner @patxilen10 said: Great event by tmkiteclub in which good vibes and camaraderie prevail. Hard battle with my faithful companion @ivancmillan. 5 first places in the 5 sleeves that counted. Better, impossible. Thanks once again to @tmkites, @eleveightkites @eleveightkites_spain for the support. I promise to fight until the end in each regatta.
