Nía Suardíaz, the young wingfoiler from the Club Náutico Sevilla, has revolutionized the sport in the 2023 GWA, and now with her double victory in the GWA Wingfoil World Cup in Leucate, she has made it clear that she remains at the top of world wingfoiling.

In the surf-freestyle competition, Nía gave us a display of maneuvers that left both the audience and the judges speechless. Her trademark inverted backflip was the icing on the cake, securing her first place on the podium, beating out the talented Mar de Arce. 🥇
But Nía didn't stop there. In the freefly-slalom, she once again shone like the star she is, leaving the competition, including the formidable Kylie Belloeuvre of France, in the dust. 🌟
Did you know that Nía Suardíaz started wingfoiling at age 7? Since then, her love for the sport has grown as rapidly as her list of titles.
- Wingfoiling not only requires skill and balance, but also a deep understanding of the wind and waves, something Nía is an expert at. 🌬️🌊
Nía Suardíaz is an inspiration to all those who dream of achieving their dreams. With her upcoming participation in the Spanish Wingfoil Cup and the Freestyle World Cup in Tarifa, we're all eager to see how she'll continue to perform against her fellow champions.
Come on, Nia, the sky's the limit! 🚀

And now let's talk about the men's competition in Leucate.
With Tramontana winds at their peak, the first men's semifinal of the day began. Noé Cuyala of France emerged victorious, perfectly executing his signature Frontside 1080, securing his first semifinal victory and earning a spot in the final.

He was closely followed by fellow Frenchman Axel Gerard, who performed an impressive frontflip 360, securing his advancement to the Surf-Freestyle Finals.
The competition was intense in the second semifinal, with Frenchman Bastien Escofet raising the bar with his high-flying backflip grabs. However, he was no match for the skill and dexterity of Malo Guenole and Chris MacDonald, who delivered exceptional performances, setting the bar even higher for the competition.
In the final showdown, the shores were packed with spectators eagerly awaiting a final surf-freestyle showdown between the competitors. Malo Guénolé started the round well with a graceful backmobe, demonstrating his power and style. But unfortunately, the Frenchman couldn't maintain his level and failed on his other four attempts. Fifteen-year-old Frenchman Axel Gerard managed to take third place in the finals. He put on an incredible show with a powerful frontflip frontside 360 combo. These were his first finals, and I'm sure we'll be seeing much more from this competitor in the future. Cuyala also had an incredible round, landing one of the biggest frontside 1080s we've seen in the entire competition. Cuyala delivered an impressive performance, landing all of his tricks with perfect execution and height.
MEN'S FINAL
1. Christopher Macdonald (USA)
2. Noé Cuyala (FRA)
3. Axel Gerard (FRA)
4. Malo Guénolé (FRA)
But it was Chris MacDonald who stole the show, scoring a perfect 10 for a massive front flip followed by three consecutive 360-degree front rotations. MacDonald proved once again that he's the champion, emerging from the water with dry hair and the highest score of the competition with 29 points. In the end, it was MacDonald who claimed victory here at the Mondial du Vent.
"I'm super happy with my score. I've been training the combos in Hood River, so I'm excited to see them work in competition. It was a really tough competition with gusts over 50 knots in the finals. I've struggled with this event in recent years, but it feels great to be on top now."
