Mayan Wind Fest 2024: the festival that brings together the best kitesurfing and wingfoil riders in Puerto Cancún.

If you're passionate about kitesurfing and wingfoiling, you definitely didn't miss the Mayan Wind Fest 2024, the festival that brought together the best riders in these disciplines in Cancún, Mexico. From January 19th to 21st, Marina Puerto Cancún became the stage for an elite competition, where you could enjoy impressive jumps, spins, and maneuvers. 🤩
The Mayan Wind Fest 2024 was the first edition of this event, which featured Quanhai Li, president of World Sailing, and other sailing and tourism authorities. The festival aimed to promote Mayan sport and culture, as well as showcase the natural beauty of Cancún and its surroundings. 🌴
More than 200 international sailors from the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, France, Denmark, the United States, Brazil, and various parts of Mexico participated in the following categories: Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, Wingfoil, Optimist, and ILCA. The second leg of the Quintana Roo Sailing Circuit also took place, serving as a qualifier for the North American Championship, the South American Championship, and the Optimist World Championship. 🏆
One of the festival's highlights was the 20-kilometer crossing from Isla Mujeres to Puerto Cancún, which tested the riders' endurance and skill, according to the 150 Kite on the Water organization. Participants included some of the biggest names in kitesurfing and wingfoiling, such as Noah Nicolas, Junior World Strapless Freestyle Kitesurfing Champion; Ancor Sosa, GWA Wingfoil Qualifying Series Gran Canaria Air Battle 2023 Champion in Wingfoil Surf-Freestyle and Freefly-Slalom; and his sister Zoe Sosa, Big Air Kitesurfing Champion. These young talents demonstrated why they are the next generation of these water sports, with tricks like the frontside 7, back mobe, and front flip. 😎
The Mayan Wind Fest 2024 was a popular and critical success, leaving a great taste in the mouths of kitesurfing and wingfoiling enthusiasts. At SUELTALABARRA, we invite you to continue practicing and learning about these sports, which will make you feel the adrenaline and freedom of flying over the water.
