SUELTALABARRA Family! This time, we have the pleasure of introducing a young talent from our community: Lluc Funollet, known on Instagram as @llucfun . At just 9 years old, Lluc demonstrates a passion and skill for kitesurfing that inspires juniors and seniors alike.
Lluc Funollet lives in Teià (Barcelona), Spain, and his usual surfing spot is Sant Pere Pescador , on the Costa Brava. His connection with kitesurfing began at age 3, playing on the sand with small kites. Impressively, by age 5, he was already surfing solo in the water, a testament to his precocious talent and dedication.
Lluc's style on the water is explosive and full of enthusiasm . He loves to fly high, experiment with new maneuvers, and enjoy each session as intensely as the first. He practices Big Air , freestyle , strapless , and has begun to delve into foiling . His versatility and eagerness to learn all disciplines are remarkable, adapting to the wind to combine whatever suits him best at any given moment.
Learning objectives
Lluc has a clear ambition to learn and master all disciplines of kitesurfing . His desire is to continue combining styles according to wind conditions, demonstrating exceptional curiosity and adaptability for his age. We've already seen him on twintips and surfkites, and now he's mastering hydrofoiling.

For his sessions, Lluc relies on the following equipment:
- Kites : Cabrinha Moto X Apex 2025 in sizes of 4, 6 and 8 meters.
- Twintip board : Cabrinha Ace 2025 120 cm.
- Surfboard : Halley Burst 4'6''.
- Foil : Cabrinha material.
- Other important materials : He emphasizes the importance of having a harness, vest, and helmet adapted to their small size, a challenge that young riders often face and that not all brands offer.
Achievements, memorable experiences or anecdotes.
Among his most memorable experiences, Lluc highlights a session in Dakhla with over 30 knots, using a 2.5-meter kite at the age of 6, an experience he describes as "crazy." The first kitesurfing trip he did with his 4-meter kite made him feel "like I was flying." This summer, his enthusiasm is focused on an exciting adventure: a trip to Brazil with his family.
A simple and direct piece of advice.
Lluc's advice is as simple as it is powerful: "If you fall, get up. Always. And smile, because surfing is the most fun thing in the world... and even more fun if you do it with your friends!" A philosophy that highlights resilience and the joy of sharing a passion for kitesurfing.
His main current goal is kitesurfing.
Lluc's main goal is to continue improving and learning all the styles so he can soon compete with other young riders . He'd also love to meet the world's best riders in person , a goal he'll surely achieve with his determination and talent.
