· TMKiteClub—co-organizer of the event along with the Redondela City Council—and the Xunta de Galicia confirmed this Friday the renewal of their collaboration agreement for the biggest event of the kitesurfing season in Galicia.
The event will take place between July 5th and 7th at Cesantes Beach.
The president of TMKiteClub, Tato González, and the regional delegate of the Xunta de Galicia (Galician regional government) in Vigo, Ana Ortiz, confirmed this Friday the renewal of their collaboration agreement for the seventh edition of the KiteFest Cesantes Trophy, Xunta de Galicia. The event, which will be held from July 5th to 7th, will once again bring together around 100 riders in the San Simón inlet for what is already one of the most important kitesurfing events in Spain.
As Ortiz confirmed, the Xunta de Galicia "is an honor to support the organizers of an event that has already established itself in the national kitesurfing scene. The Galician government will always stand by all those who promote the sport, because through sports activities we can instill in young people the values of solidarity, respect, and hard work. Congratulations to those responsible for this initiative; we are delighted to see kites flying over our Vigo estuary and San Simón cove once again."
For his part, the president of the Redondela-based club wanted to express his gratitude for "yet another year of support from the Xunta de Galicia. Without the help of these institutions, it would be impossible to hold this event, which is unique in Spain and which, in its seventh edition, will once again count toward the Galician circuit of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation, including twintip, surf kite, foil, and wingfoil."
"The registration rate is very good so far. There will be participants from all over Spain and, once again, we will feature professional riders from outside Galicia, which confirms the event's excellent form after seven editions," added González.
Justo Fernández, a member of the organizing team who was also present at the event, emphasized that "Cesantes is a paradise for practicing this sport, and so far the wind has been favorable in every edition, so we hope the conditions will be repeated this year."
The VII KiteFest Cesantes Xunta de Galicia Trophy is organized by the TMKiteClub and the Redondela Council with the sponsorship of the Xunta de Galicia and the collaboration of the Pontevedra Provincial Council, ABANCA, Aceites Abril and the sector brands Eleveight Kites and RRD.
