Sarah McNair-Landry: The kitesurfer who conquered the poles 🌎
Share
Can you imagine crossing Greenland or the Arctic on a kitesurf?

Well, that's what Sarah McNair-Landry, the youngest person to explore the poles at just 33, has done. Along with her brother Eric, Sarah has revolutionized polar expeditions with sports like kitesurfing, which allows them to harness the wind to glide across ice and snow. 🏂

Sarah and Eric are the children of two famous explorers, Matty McNair and Paul Landry, who instilled in them a love of nature and adventure from a young age. They grew up on a farm in Canada, where they learned to ski, sail, and fly kites. At 18, Sarah made her first expedition to the North Pole, and since then, she has traveled to the most remote and coldest places on the planet. ❄️
But what Sarah is most passionate about is kitesurfing, a sport that combines surfing with a kite that propels you with the wind. Sarah discovered kitesurfing in 2006, while in Greenland with her family. There, she saw some locals practicing the sport and was fascinated. Since then, she has incorporated kitesurfing into her expeditions, becoming a pioneer and a leader in the field. 🙌
Kitesurfing has allowed Sarah to travel long distances in a short time, saving energy and avoiding obstacles. It has also brought fun and excitement to her trips, which are not always easy or comfortable. Sarah always carries a camera on her helmet to document her experiences and show the world the beauty and climate change of the poles.

Sarah has participated in several national and international kitesurfing championships, demonstrating her skill and competitive spirit. In 2023, she was crowned Spanish freestyle kitesurfing champion, defeating the country's best riders at the event held in Tarifa. She also finished second in the big air kitesurfing world championship, held at the same spot in Balneario. 🏆
Sarah has no plans to stop exploring or kitesurfing. Her next challenge is to cross Antarctica with her brother and his partner, using only the wind as a propulsion. Sarah wants to continue inspiring others to step out of their comfort zones and discover the world with kitesurfing.
Do you dare to follow in their footsteps? 😎
