Hello, SUELTALABARRA wingfoiler! 🌞🌴 Today I'm bringing you a recap of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Fuerteventura 2024, held from July 19th to 24th at the spectacular Sotavento Beach. 🌊🏄‍♂️
The competition was marked by a series of wild heats and strong winds that kept the tour leaders and their pursuers on tenterhooks until the very end. Nia Suardiaz (ESP) and Francesco Cappuzzo (ITA) proved unbeatable. 💥
Total dominance in FreeFly-Slalom
From the start, Suardiaz and Cappuzzo secured first place after the four elimination rounds, advancing directly to their respective finals with a bonus "bullet"—a free win in the finals for two wins each. 🥇
In the women's division, Kylie Belloeuvre (FRA) also earned a spot in the final, while in the men's division, Oscar Leclair (FRA) did the same. The next six best men and four women had to battle it out in the final heats to secure their spot. 💪

Suardiaz: A league of their own

Nia Suardiaz won the first heat of the finals, adding to her bullet and securing the event victory, her second FreeFly-Slalom win of the season. "My strategy, I tried to time it well from the boat," said Suardiaz, who led in nearly every time slot of the final heat. 🏄‍♀️✨

Cappuzzo: A winning reboot.

Francesco Cappuzzo didn't have it so easy. In the first run of the finals, he made a mistake while trying to overtake and ended up tied with Julien Rattotti (FRA). "I felt uncomfortable from the start," Cappuzzo confessed. However, in the second run, the Italian dominated from start to finish, securing the event victory. 🇮🇹🏄‍♂️
