Loteta Cierzo Festival: Kitesurfing, Wingfoiling, and me! Alex from dejalabarra.com tells you the inside story!

Get ready to experience the excitement of the La Loteta Cierzo Festival (LLCF2025). This year, the La Loteta reservoir in Zaragoza will become the epicenter of kitesurfing and wingfoiling on May 24th and 25th. And I, Alex, administrator of dejalabarra.com and the LLCF OPEN Championship's social media handler, as well as a passionate rider, will take you through every moment of this epic event. Don't miss a single detail of what promises to be the best event of the year on my social media channels!

Come on, first: How to get to La Loteta?

La Loteta enjoys a strategic location, easily accessible from important points in Spain:

      • Madrid: Approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
      • Barcelona: Approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes.
      • Leucate: Approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes.
      • And some Galicians who cross Spain in 8 hours

Accommodation near La Loteta if you are not coming with a CAMPER:

To make your stay as comfortable as possible, here are some accommodation options near the reservoir. For more information, check out this website article: Spot La Loteta Accommodations .

  • Hotel Maria Rosa: Possibly the best option due to its proximity to the reservoir, but especially because we usually have Saturday dinner in the hotel restaurant. Contact Merche at +34 663681851 for reservations.
  • Hostal Loteta Experience: Located in Magallón, it offers modern rooms, free Wi-Fi, and access to a hot tub after your sessions.
  • Hotel Castillo Bonavia: Located in Pedrola, this hotel will transport you back to medieval times with its towers and drawbridge. It offers services such as 24-hour reception, free Wi-Fi, and airport transfers.

The Loteta Cierzo Festival (LLCF) is a unique event, unlike any other competition. It brings together the best kitesurfing and wingfoiling riders. It's unique because it's designed for all levels and allows for competing in various disciplines, including freestyle and race. And that's not all. In addition to the adrenaline rush on the water, there will be DJ music, delicious food, and drinks to enjoy with a beer in hand.

And don't forget the incredible Riders' Dinner on Saturday night at the Hotel María Rosa. Sign up! Last year, a board was given away to those in attendance!

I'll tell you how I organize myself, Friday, May 23: Warming up the engines!

On Friday afternoon, I'll be at the spot for kitesurfing and wingfoiling training. It'll be a chance to meet and greet, see the riders preparing, and sign up for the competitions. And yes, I'll be in the water practicing too—the one with the red helmet like Atomic Ant!

In addition to the LLCF2025 rashguard, all participants will receive a welcome bag. In the evening, an informal dinner with other riders will be the perfect time to share experiences and perhaps discover some interesting spots for a drink in the nearby towns. Dress up, who knows, I might even do an impromptu interview for dejalabarra.com!

Saturday, May 24: The competition, how nerve-wracking!

The day will start early with breakfast at the Hotel Maria Rosa for those staying there, as we'll be at the spot preparing our gear at 9:00 AM. The last registrations usually take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by the skippers' meeting where the weekend's competition program will be defined. Throughout the day, freestyle kitesurfing, kitesurf racing, and wingfoiling events will keep us at the edge of the reservoir (remember, this is at SPOT SUR or Playas de Luceni). At lunchtime, we'll enjoy a snack and drink at the spot itself, included in the rider registration fee!

In the afternoon, the atmosphere will get even livelier with music, friends, and more competition, which will last until 8:00 p.m. The sunset at La Loteta with the music in the background will be a beautiful spectacle that I will capture in photos and videos so you don't miss it. This sunset with the sun over Mount Moncayo is amazing.

And to close Saturday in style, the long-awaited Riders' Dinner at the María Rosa Hotel , where there will surely be many anecdotes to tell!

I forgot. Drop the Bar Contest - Loteta Cierzo Festival 2025!

Attention, dejalabarra.com fans coming to the festival! Here's to everyone: Here's a surprise for you! Throughout the event, share your best photos and videos with the hashtag #LotetaSLB . The winner of the best fail video (please don't hurt yourself) will win a Suelta la Barra T-shirt, as will the rider with the most epic fall! Plus, all participants will receive Suelta la Barra stickers and keychains (just ask me, I'll have plenty). The special awards ceremony for this contest will be on Sunday during the official festival awards ceremony!

And if I'm still in the water on Sunday, May 25th: I'm in the Finals!

On Sunday, the pace doesn't slow down, with breakfast and a festival hangover, as the freestyle kitesurfing, kitesurfing race, and wingfoil finals take place in the morning. If the wind is good, we'll also enjoy the spectacular Big Air finals! For lunch, riders will have a snack and drink included, and the public can enjoy the food trucks. The official awards ceremony will be held no later than 3:00 PM, allowing riders from all over Spain to return home.

The Loteta Cierzo Festival (LLCF) promises to be an unforgettable weekend filled with action, excitement, and a great atmosphere. And if you're coming, look for me so we can say hello and share the experience.

See you at La Loteta!
