El primer evento de wingfoil INDOOR del GWA Axel Gerard y Nia Suardiaz dejan su huella en la historia.

GWA's first indoor wingfoil event Axel Gerard and Nia Suardiaz make their mark on history.

I know, it doesn't sound very good. It doesn't seem like a good idea to lock up a sport that requires nature, waves, wind, and open water for long distances. But they've done it using the pool at the Düsseldorf International Boat Show, with an indoor pool deep enough for the foils and powerful fans that allow wingfoiling to be practiced indoors. For the start, and to give more spectacle, the rider has to exit as if it were a wake park, holding onto a cable with the wing in the other hand. This gives them a decent ride, I'd say, but it's better to take some pictures and judge for yourself.

Last weekend, the German city became the global epicenter of this rapidly growing sport with the hosting of the first GWA Indoor Wingfoil World Cup. And boy, did it leave us speechless.

Imagine a giant pool, massive fans, and the world's best wingfoil riders competing at full speed. Well, that's exactly what we experienced in Düsseldorf. Over three days, the athletes demonstrated impressive technical prowess, making it clear that the future of wingfoil is brighter than ever.

Axel Gerard, a 16-year-old Frenchman, demonstrated incredible technique, taking the victory in the men's category. Meanwhile, Nia Suardiaz, the renowned Spanish champion, once again demonstrated her mastery in the water, taking the women's title.

  • An innovative format: The indoor competition has been a major innovation in the world of wingfoil, and has proven to be a resounding success.
  • A devoted crowd: Fans filled the stands of the arena, cheering the riders on nonstop.
  • A promising future: This event has demonstrated that wingfoiling is a constantly evolving sport, with a future full of possibilities.

With events like this, the future of wingfoiling is very promising. More and more riders are joining this discipline, and brands are investing more and more in developing new products. Expect parawings to come, with many leading brands designing and releasing new models. Visit our website and see what we already have for sale.
