SUELTALABARRA kiters! From Cabarete itself, in the Dominican Republic, we receive news of the DROPEN held on March 22nd and 23rd, an event that brought together kitesurfers in choppy waters and playful winds. And guess what... Our very young Davisito, for his friends, took the cake! 🥇 Yes, you read that right. This kid with incredible potential competed against more experienced riders and proved that age is no limit when you have talent and passion for kiting.
Congratulations, dude! 🎉
And as expected, the DR Open also crowned its champions. In the SemiPro category, our aforementioned Ángel David Bonilla once again climbed to the top of the podium 🏆, followed by Rafelito Martínez 🥈 and Cristopher Lolo 🥉. Misael González came close in fourth place 🏅

But it didn't end there, because Cabarete also hosted the 14th edition of the DR Open Kiteboarding Championship 2025, organized by the kingpin Raúl Corniel. And this event certainly brought together the best of international kitesurfing! 🌍 Riders from Colombia, Switzerland, Canada... no one wanted to miss the action in this windy paradise, which boasts up to 300 windy days a year. 🌬️
Raúl Corniel is clear: "This event is not only a showcase for our athletes, but also a great opportunity for tourism." And he's right, because kitesurfing attracts thousands of visitors each year to this Caribbean gem, boosting the local economy. It's time to support this sport that gives so much to us. At dejalabarra.com, I'm doing everything possible to promote our sport and its competitions.
The Dominican Republic, with Cabarete and Buen Hombre, continues to be a world-class kitesurfing icon, with emerging talent and top-level events. At SUELTALABARRA.com, we encourage you to keep an eye on these riders 🌊
