Instagram Follower Q&A: Everything you need to know about kiteboarding and @sueltalabarra

I'm going to answer some of the questions you've asked me on Instagram.

I'll start with the question about my hometown, which is easy: I'm from Málaga and live in Zaragoza. The next question is a bit more complicated and concerns the cost of a kitesurfing course. You'll find the information on the website, especially if you contact the school in Subcielo Tarifa . Prices are similar worldwide, and they can offer hourly or course prices. Learning to kitesurf, from entering the water to taking your first steps, is divided into different stages. On the website, they have the Kitesurfing School section where you can find advertised schools. You can contact the SUBCIELO school in Tarifa via WhatsApp, which is easy, and they will give you the price and can arrange an appointment. Most courses are offered by the hour, as there's no guarantee that one person will learn sooner or later than another and still pay the same. As for the final cost, if you're somewhat skilled, it can be around 300 euros, but I don't think it'll be as low as 200 euros.

I was wondering if wingfoiling is difficult. It's a bit of a complicated discipline, although it's becoming popular due to the seemingly small amount of equipment and the low risk, since you're not tied to a kite that can drag you along. Hand-carrying the sail makes it seem safer. However, there's a board underneath you that can be difficult to control, especially if you're using a hydrofoil. You'll be like a pendulum, about a meter high, although they say you can learn it with a 60-centimeter mast. The tricky part is learning how to lift the board and fly, as many people do it with paddleboards, which is easier because of the balance a large board offers. However, when you add the hydrofoil, the difficulty increases, as it tends to lift and you have to keep the board down the whole time. So yes, it's tricky and can take 30 to 40 hours, depending on your skill level. If you've used hydrofoiling with a kite before, you'll find foiling easier, but it's still a bit more complicated than kitesurfing.

I was also asked about the upcoming kitesurfing trip. The "Foil Fest" will be held in Sant Pere Pescador on June 10th and 11th. I expect there will be kitefoiling and wingfoiling, lots of people riding, and there will also be people using Twintip boards and riding waves. It's a very fun event with lots of people participating.

Additionally, the La Loteta Kitesurf Club is preparing a sailing trip for October, so get ready because it's going to be something big.

My wife then asked me when I was going to pick up the top of the deck, but I won't answer that question to avoid any problems. Another question was about Kai Clothes, and well, I've already talked a bit about him in the interview published on this blog . Of the sports I practice, kitesurfing is my favorite; it's an incredible, adrenaline-filled sport.

One question is whether you can make a bar for hanging and practicing with it yourself. Well, there are different options for practicing and improving your skills. You can use an old bar you already have, as long as it's in good condition and secure. You'll just tie it on and you're done. However, you must make sure all the components are strong and sturdy to avoid any accidents.

Another option is to make your own bar from scratch. You can use a rope and hang it from a tree or a sturdy beam. Make sure you choose the right location and consider safety. Remember that there's always a risk involved when engaging in adventure sports, so it's important to take precautions and assess the risks involved.

However, I want to emphasize the importance of safety when practicing kiteboarding or any water sport. It's always advisable to receive proper instruction and training from professionals at a certified kiteboarding school. They will provide you with the tools and knowledge necessary to practice safely and effectively.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help.

Have fun and stay safe in the water!
