Pedro Alexandre: A heart of gold from Cumbuco🇧🇷 to Tarifa🇪🇦

Hello Kiters, this is one of the articles that takes me the longest, but I do it with the most enthusiasm. I enjoy seeing all the information, photos and images that appear on Instagram, YouTube or local and international newspapers. I put all the content in the shaker of my head to write and leave the best of the championship on the SUELTALABARRA.COM blog, your kiteboarding blog.
Tarifa has crowned the first champions of the 2024 GKA Youth World Kitesurfing Championships. On a day marked by a gentle easterly wind that intensified, the competition enjoyed an intense day that saw the winners emerge in the strapless and kitesurfing categories for men under 14, under 16, and under 19, in the unparalleled beach setting of the Tarifa coast.
In the under-14 category, Spaniard Rodrigo Vargas García took the victory, followed by fellow Spaniard Juan Moreno. Third place went to Australian Fina Kyngdon, and fourth place went to Carlos Montans.
The U16 men's category went to Italian Leonardo Casati, in a round where he demonstrated a much higher level in his heat. Second place went to Spaniard Santiago Moreno, followed by Italian Perfrancesco Rizzelo and Australian Ben Gerhardt.
Noah Nicolas, U19 kitesurfing/strapless world champion
In the event's senior category, under 19, the victory went to Frenchman Noah Nicolas, followed by Spaniard Domingo Moreno. Third place went to Spaniard Javier Martín López, and fourth place went to Austrian Johannes Sarny.

In addition to an excellent competition, the Spain Kiteboarding League, organizer of this world-class event, is committed to training its youngest competitors. Participants were able to attend a clinic led by Lorenzo Casati, two-time Spanish champion, 2022 Red Bull King of the Air champion, and 2023 runner-up. The competition continues this Friday with the remaining categories, with good wind forecasts, and another clinic led by industrial engineer Fabian Muhmenthaler.

Pedro Alexandre: A heart of gold from Cumbuco🇧🇷 to Tarifa🇪🇦.

Let's meet Pedro Alexandre, world runner-up in U16 freestyle.
We hear from Patry Mueller from Cumbuco, Pedro's teacher and an expert on his parents' kitesurfing school.
Pedro was my student at school, where I taught him art and physical education. He was always a good student and a wonderful boy.
Pedro's father runs a kitesurfing school and an incredible project in Cumbuco. Every day, on my way to and from school, I saw Pedro with his parents on the beach, dedicated to their kitesurfing school and the project that teaches the children of Cumbuco.
An anecdote about Pedro: one day, the sea was rough and I lost my board. I couldn't get it back, but Pedro, with his big heart, came to my aid and saved me. I've always struggled with headwinds, and he saw me struggling in the sea. I told him, "Pedro, I can't." With the utmost humility, he encouraged me and helped me overcome the challenge. Pedro has a heart of gold.
Here's the Instagram of her mother, Cassia Morais, and her father's school, Marcelo Eré Kiteschool. The kitesurfing school on Cumbuco Beach has ABK-certified instructors.
The most beautiful part of this story is the school Pedro's parents created, @juvenilkitecumbuco_ Juvenil Kite Cumbuco. They teach kitesurfing for free to the children of Cumbuco, many of whom were my students at the city school. I lived in Cumbuco for two years and saw them every day on the beach.
Money to travel and achieve great things is hard to come by for parents, but the community, friends, and everyone pitched in, even holding raffles, to support this youth kitesurfing volunteer program. During the season, Pedro's father also teaches kitesurfing to tourists.
Thanks to @sueltalabarra, God bless you.
I hope this story leaves a mark on you and that you remember Pedro Alexandre and his family in Cumbuco 🇧🇷
