Salinas Fest: Un Festival de Kitesurf Sostenible en el Atlántico Colombiano

Salinas Fest: A Sustainable Kitesurfing Festival in the Colombian Atlantic

The Salinas Fest 2025, which will be held from March 29th to April 2nd at the Salinas del Rey Nautical Club in Juan de Acosta, Colombia, is set to be one of the Caribbean season's highlights. This kitesurfing sports festival is not only a high-level competition but also stands out for its sustainable approach, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over six days, national and international athletes will compete in various disciplines, some of which will earn points toward the Colombian Sailing Federation's ranking.

However, the event will go beyond the traditional sunset parties for athletes and will offer environmental awareness talks and workshops for local athletes and entrepreneurs. Activities will also be held to introduce children to kitesurfing, fostering ecological awareness from an early age. In addition, spaces will be opened for local entrepreneurs to exhibit and sell their products, contributing to the community's economic growth.

Another highlight is the participation of Andrés Sarmiento , a Chilean sports tourism expert, who will lead the workshops during the event. Sarmiento, who recently spoke at FITUR 2025 in Madrid , is recognized for his work on the sustainable management of sports tourism in natural areas.

The commitment to the environment will also be demonstrated through the " Plopping in the Wind " event, a trash collection initiative involving athletes, visitors, and local residents. More than just a cleanup, this action seeks to raise awareness about the importance of keeping coastal areas free of debris, a fundamental component for the long-term success of any sports development.

Finally, Governor Eduardo Verano 's leadership in organizing the Salinas Fest reflects his commitment to sustainable tourism development in the Colombian Atlantic. Under his direction, the event serves as a model for other municipalities in Colombia and Latin America, demonstrating that sports tourism can be a key tool for environmental preservation and the economic and social development of communities. With its disruptive approach and sustainable proposal, the Salinas Fest has established itself as an event that not only seeks to attract visitors but also generates a positive and lasting impact on the region.
