Viana do Castelo is crowned with an epic National Kitefoil and Wingfoil Championship.

Last weekend, Viana do Castelo became the epicenter of excitement and adrenaline with the celebration of the National Kitefoil and Wingfoil Championship , an event that brought together Portugal's best athletes for an epic battle.

A perfect Saturday for kitesurfers 🪁 and wingfoilers 🪰 The first day of competition was marked by unbeatable conditions, with winds of around 12 knots that propelled the kitefoil riders to reach dizzying speeds. Among them, Mafalda Pires de Lima , the recent qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, stood out , demonstrating her talent and experience from the outset.

The situation of being qualified for the Olympic Games this year is a relief and on the other hand the responsibility, it seems that everything is the same because it is a dream that I have had for a long time, it is something that I have had in my head for many years and I think that this last year I came to prepare for this, for this qualifying championship with a good mentality, I deserve to be in the Olympic Games, I believe perfectly in my work, you start to believe and in the end you have the objective of qualifying, it seems that suddenly you have the OK, nothing has changed, the objective continues and everything remains normal, because deep down I was adapting psychologically because I knew that this would happen, managing to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Mafalda Pires de Lima: From Olympian to National Champion For Mafalda, this championship has been doubly special. After the joy of qualifying for the Olympic Games, the Portuguese rider once again demonstrated her mastery on the waves, becoming the national women's kitefoiling champion. A new achievement that confirms her talent and makes her one of the sport's most promising young athletes.

The boards fly with the Wingfoil ‍ In the afternoon, it was the wingfoilers' turn, who also put on a top-level show. The competition in this category was fierce, with spectacular maneuvers and leaving Portuguese wingfoil with a very promising future.

A Sunday of finals and coronations. Sunday arrived with tension running high. The final races defined the national champions in each category, putting the finishing touches on a championship filled with excitement.
