Macapá Big Air International 2025: A Battle of Kitesurfing Giants
Share
The recently held Macapá Big Air International 2025 event has left an indelible mark on the world of kitesurfing. Far from being a government-sponsored event, its success was the result of private initiative and the passion of a dedicated team. The testimonials from the participating athletes reveal the intensity and spirit of self-improvement that defined the competition.
The event featured a star presence by Josué San Ferreira , affectionately nicknamed 'Baby Shark', who emerged as champion on the Big Air Pro podium. A fixture on the kitesurfing circuit, Josué once again demonstrated why he is one of the most respected names in the discipline. His victory at the Macapá Big Air adds to an impressive list of achievements, including a first place at the previous edition of the same event and a fifth place at the Lords of Tram in France, cementing his position as a true giant of the sport.
The voice of the RIDERS

Douglas Lopes , Suelta la Barra ambassador, described the event as "four very intense days, with electrifying drums and great athletes." Douglas delivered a standout performance, securing third place in the professional Freestyle category and second place in Intermediate Big Air. His experience taught him a valuable lesson: "I learned that I need to train every day to improve."

Larry Gómez from Cabo de la Vela, Colombia, fulfilled his dream of competing in Brazil alongside the best in the world. He thanked the organizers and the public for the support that motivated him to give his all. Larry expressed his desire to return next year "with much more training and effort to always continue improving my level."

For his part, José Luis shared his joy at participating in the fifth edition of the event, highlighting the learning and improvement in his technique. Despite leading until the fifth round, he was overtaken by Baby Shark on the final lap, but expressed his "great pleasure." José Luis firmly believes that Brazilian athletes are "at a very high level" and will have the opportunity to show it to the world.
