Ángel Candel is crowned champion of the 2023 Wing Foil Spain Series in Tarifa.

Last weekend, the final round of the 2023 Wing Foil Spain Series was held in Tarifa, bringing together the best national and international riders in this discipline. After an intense competition, Mallorcan Ángel Candel took the overall title, followed by Julián López and River Moore. In the Advanced category, German Leo Kleine-Brockhoff took first place, joined by Daniel Alarcón and Samuel Swinburg on the podium.

The 2023 Wing Foil Spain Series circuit has been a success in terms of participation and organization, spanning four iconic venues on the national scene: Ibiza, Mallorca, Valencia, and Tarifa. In each of them, the riders demonstrated their skill and passion for this sport, which combines surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.
The sport involves riding a hydrofoil propelled by an inflatable sail, which allows you to glide across the water at high speed and perform spectacular jumps and maneuvers. It's a young sport that is gaining popularity and recognition worldwide.

Tarifa, the perfect setting for the final outcome of the WFSS

Tarifa was the perfect setting for the circuit's finale, as it is considered the European capital of wind and one of the best destinations for water sports. For three days, the riders enjoyed the excellent weather conditions and festive atmosphere that characterize this town in the Cádiz region.
The competition was divided into two categories: Open Pro and Open Advanced, based on the level and experience of the participants. In each category, several qualifying and final heats were held, in which riders had to complete a course marked by buoys and perform the best maneuvers possible.

Ángel Candel, the undisputed champion

The young Mallorcan Ángel Candel has been the undisputed champion of the 2023 Wing Foil Spain Series circuit, demonstrating his skill and ability in each of the events. Candel arrived in Tarifa tied on points with Julián López, so the final race of the year was decisive in determining the winner. Despite the difficult wind conditions, which forced the cancellation of Sunday's race, Candel managed to prevail over his rivals and be crowned champion after a tiebreaker with López.
Candel expressed his satisfaction at sailing under difficult and challenging conditions and thanked his family, sponsors, and teammates for their support. He also congratulated the other participants for their effort and sportsmanship.

Leo Kleine-Brockhoff, the king of the Advanced category

In the Advanced category, German Leo Kleine-Brockhoff demonstrated his consistency throughout the competition, earning the championship title. Kleine-Brockhoff stood out for his fluid and elegant style, as well as his ability to adapt to varying wind conditions. Daniel Alarcón and Samuel Swinburg completed the podium in second and third place, respectively.
