Last Thursday, the third day of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Gran Canaria 2023 took place on Pozo Izquierdo beach. In this wingfoil competition, Spain's Nía Suardiaz stood out by winning the Freefly-Slalom discipline, leading 12 of the 15 races in the World Championships and leading the world ranking in the discipline. Despite being only 15 years old, Suardiaz proved to be a well-rounded and talented competitor, outperforming her rivals in most races. Flora Artzner and Orane Ceris of France took second and third place on the women's podium.
In the men's category, Frenchman Titouan Galera was crowned king of wingfoil, winning one race and finishing fifth in another. Galera demonstrated his speed and technical skill, securing his victory even before the final race. Francesco Cappuzzo of Italy and Alan Fedit (competing for France) completed the men's podium.
Highlighting the local talent, Ancor Sosa, a 15-year-old from the Canary Islands, became the revelation of Spanish wingfoiling. Despite his short career, Sosa has demonstrated impressive skill and excelled in several wingfoil disciplines. Other Canarian riders, such as Ángel Granda, also had outstanding performances in the competition.
The GWA Wingfoil World Championship is supported by the Gran Canaria Island Council, the Canary Islands Government, and the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council, as well as various private sponsors.

With this victory, Nía Suardiaz consolidates her position as one of the top competitors in the Freefly-Slalom discipline and hopes to maintain her leadership in upcoming competitions, including the one in Fuerteventura. Meanwhile, Titouan Galera continues to demonstrate his dominance in men's wingfoil and remains at the top of the world rankings.
