Salinas del Rey is getting ready! A new nautical center and lots of plans to conquer the Atlantic. And get ready for Salinas Fest 2025!
Hello, kiters and adrenaline lovers! How's your search for the perfect wind going? Look no further. Today I'm bringing you some juicy gossip from the Colombian coast, where something big is brewing for water sports.
It turns out I just spoke with our friend Andrés Sarmiento, executive manager of the Latin American Sports Tourism Network. He told me all the details about the new "Náutica Salinas del Rey" nautical center in Juan de Acosta. And it looks amazing!

This project would not have been possible without the effort and passion of the local kitesurfing schools, who have been the driving force behind this initiative. In particular, I want to highlight KITE MASTERS SCHOOL SALINAS DEL REY, the first school to establish itself in the area and which has been instrumental in the development of the kitesurfing community. A round of applause for Wëndy De la Asunción ! If you want to learn to fly over the water or rent top-notch equipment, don't hesitate to come to Náutica Salinas, you'll find it all.
What's on at Náutica Salinas del Rey?
- Six official kitesurfing schools : 4 already established within the building. Learn to fly over the water with the best certified instructors.
- A restaurant : The project houses a gastronomic venue where you can recharge your batteries after an epic session.
- Relaxation area : Sunbathe and pose for Instagram by taking photos!
- Restrooms, showers, and lockers : Finally, a decent place to change and store your gear! If your favorite spot doesn't have this infrastructure, your government, city council, or leaders are doing something wrong.
Andrés tells me that this center is just the beginning of many projects. They want to turn Salinas del Rey into a paradise for kitesurfing, wingfoiling, paddleboarding, and many other sports. Can you imagine a competition circuit throughout Latin America? Well, it seems like it's coming true, and I'll keep you updated here at Sueltalabarra.
It doesn't stop here, keep reading, there's more!
Andrés and his team are working on tour packages that combine sports, gastronomy, and accommodations. Get ready, European tourists, kiters, and wingfoilers, the Caribbean awaits! The race for the first package is on, and the first company to offer it will win the jackpot. ✈️

The poster already gives you all the information you need, but when talking about events with Andrés, he tells me that the opening of Náutica Salinas will be grand with the "Salinas Fest 2025" from March 28 to April 2. Get ready to experience the excitement of the Twintip Race, Formula Kite, and Wingfoil kite events at Náutica Salinas del Rey. There will be a national sailing championship and many more surprises.
I won't miss it, so far away from you and enjoying it as if I were there!

And as always when I talk to Andrés, there are alliances!
Andrés tells me that he's visiting Spain in January for the FITUR tourism fair, and he learned that collaboration is key to success. He left me with this quote : "No more competing between municipalities, schools, or private events; we're all pulling in the same direction here." That's why another great project they're creating is a kitesurfing and water sports guide, and I'm eager to check it out and contribute my part.
And finally, a reflection from Andrés that touched my soul: "Sport and tourism have the ability to transform lives and entire communities."
So, kiters and wingfoilers, get your boards and sails ready, pack a good board bag, and get ready for adventure. Salinas del Rey awaits you with open arms.
