Nia Suardiaz dominates the 2023 Spain Wingfoil League with a historic double.

Ancor Sosa and Martín Tieles complete the podium at the national wingfoil championship in Oliva.

This past weekend, the city of Oliva witnessed the exciting final of the 2023 Spain Wingfoil League, featuring the Surf Freestyle and Surf Slalom competitions. The event featured 40 athletes from all over Spain and was supported by the Valencian Community Sailing Federation, Oliva City Council, the Oliva Yacht Club, and renowned brands in the sector.
From the first day of competition, wind conditions were ideal, with gentle gusts of Garbí winds ranging between 12 and 18 knots. During the first Slalom runs, Nia Suardíaz, a talented athlete from Cádiz, stood out and took the victory in the women's category. Manuel Morillo also emerged victorious in the under-16 category, while Ancor Sosa, who also competes in the GWA Wingfoil World Tour, demonstrated his skill and took the top spot on the podium.
Saturday's competition did not disappoint, as weather conditions allowed for races in the Junior, Senior, Women's, and U17 categories. The riders offered an exceptional level of competition, providing the large crowd with an unforgettable spectacle.

The impressive performance of the young riders was noteworthy, as they demonstrated excellent form and dominated the Spanish Wing Foil Championship. Manuel Morillo, from Arrecife, took the victory in the Slalom category, lifting the coveted Spanish Cup. Nathan Berger, the U14 junior world champion and winner in the Junior Freestyle category, achieved a remarkable second place. Meanwhile, Leo Suardíaz, a promising figure in Andalusian sport, took the third step of the podium.
In the women's category, Nia Suardíaz continued to demonstrate her unstoppable talent by winning both the Slalom and Freestyle events. Regaliz Sollom, also from Andalusia, took second place in both disciplines, while Catalan Iset Segura took third. Suardíaz's dominance in both disciplines once again impressed everyone.
In the men's Slalom category, Martín Tieles' victory stood out, closely followed by Ancor Sosa, who took second place, and Hugo Ferrer, who completed the podium in third. In Freestyle, Nathan Berger took first place, followed by Ancor Sosa in second place and Leo Suardíaz in third.
Spain Wingfoil League 2023: New national champions were crowned. Nia Suardíaz's impressive performance stands out, establishing herself as the grand champion by winning both the Slalom and Freestyle categories. Ancor Sosa was crowned champion in Surf Freestyle, demonstrating his skill and dexterity in the water. Martín Tieles took the Surf Slalom title, consolidating his position as one of the best competitors in this discipline.
The grand wingfoil event in Oliva concluded with the trophy ceremony, where the champions were recognized for their achievements and efforts. Oliva Mayor Yolanda Pastor had the honor of presenting the plaques to the winners in a moving ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of these talented athletes.

The 2023 Spain Wingfoil League was a spectacular event that brought together the best of wingfoiling in Spain. The passion, talent, and determination of the participants were evident in every competition, providing an unforgettable spectacle for both the athletes and the audience.
This championship would not have been possible without the support of the Valencian Community Sailing Federation, the Oliva City Council, the Yacht Club, and the industry brands that backed the event. Their commitment to the sport and their support for athletes have been fundamental to the success of this competition.
The 2023 Spain Wingfoil League has left a legacy of excitement, victories, and unforgettable moments. Participants have demonstrated their passion for wingfoil and raised the bar in every discipline. Now, we look forward to the future with excitement, hoping to see more exciting events and witness the continued growth of this fascinating sport.
When we say this championship would not have been possible, blah blah blah... Well, each championship has a host, a club or a school that helps, organizes and even the local Riders compete so that this has a meaning, why do I say this, why has it taken me 1 week to find the local winners of the Freestyle C.Valenciana, who will be sailing federations of the Valencian community and yes, gentlemen, they have their own particular podium:
Freestyle C. Valenciana
1.David Llueca Peyrichou
2.Jose Miguel Lopez
3. Hugo Ferrer
Congratulations to all the competitors and champions of the 2023 Spain Wingfoil League! Your dedication and talent are truly inspiring and motivate us to continue promoting wingfoil as an exciting sport full of possibilities.
And I'll finish with all the winners with trophies in this Oliva championship.
